HERMISTON, Ore.-Umatilla County Fire District #1 (UCFC1) has purchased some new emergency medical equipment thanks to a grant from the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation (GSCHF).
UCFD1 was awarded a $20,667.80 grant and used the funds to purchase six advanced video laryngoscopes to enhance patient airway management during emergency medical responses.
The video laryngoscopes allow paramedics to view a patient’s airway through a high-definition camera on the end of an endoscope, providing a clear, detailed view of the airway during medical emergencies.
According to UCFD1, over 80 percent of its calls include emergency medical response, and having advanced tools and technology, such as the video laryngoscopes, enables the district to provide high-level emergency care to the community.
UCFD1 is a publicly funded district that utilizes grants to supplement its budget in a financially responsible way, while continuing to provide essential services and meet the needs of the community, according to a press release on the grant funding.
The GSCHF works to enhance the quality of life and the health of residents in Umatilla and Morrow Counties, providing resources to initiatives, projects, and organizations that address the health needs of the community.
During its Fall Grants Cycle, GSCHF awarded a total of $126,356.59 to various organizations and initiatives. More information about the GSCHF is available online.
