BOARDMAN, Ore.-Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) employees recently collected and donated hygiene items to the Boardman Food Pantry.

“It was another way to help the Boardman community now that our Urgent Care and Occupational Health clinics are there,” said Paige MacIsaac, BSN, RN, Urgent Care Manager at GSHCS.

Good Shepherd Urgent Care and Occupational Health, at 300 NE Front Street in Boardman, opened in April, expanding access to healthcare services for Boardman residents and the surrounding Morrow County communities.

GSHCS made the initial donation of hygiene items, then Good Shepherd staff and providers continued collecting donations of hygiene items or the money to purchase them for families in need.

“We’re so excited to help families in Boardman,” said MacIsaac. “One of the goals of Good Shepherd is to support the communities we’re a part of. I feel incredibly blessed to work alongside such a generous, thoughtful, and community-driven team.”

Over the course of a week and a half, multiple totes and several boxes were filled with personal hygiene items, ranging from soap, deodorant, and shampoo to laundry detergent, diapers, and more, before the items were delivered on June 22.

“This donation means a lot,” said Perla Martinez with the Boardman Food Pantry. “We serve over 650 families each month, and this is going to help a lot. We really, really appreciate it.”

The Boardman Food Pantry provides access to food and support for those in need. Anyone in need of food is welcome, and families in the Boardman area are able to receive a box of food each week.

In July 2025, the pantry was destroyed by wildfire, and the nonprofit is currently operating out of a temporary location at 361 Turner CT in Boardman.

The Boardman Food Pantry continues to serve the community as it rebuilds and is open Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Good Shepherd Urgent Care in Boardman is open Monday through Sunday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Good Shepherd Occupational Health is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Walk-ins are welcome for Urgent Care services. Patients may also schedule an appointment online up to 24 hours in advance.

Occupational Health appointments may be scheduled by calling 541.667.3787 or requested online.

“I’m so proud of the Good Shepherd team for stepping up and helping out of their own pockets to make a difference,” said MacIsaac. “We are excited for the positive impact these donations will have in the community.”
