SALEM, Ore.-Hoping to hit the water and maybe do a little fishing this weekend? Anglers in Oregon can fish license-free June 6-7.

No fishing/shellfish licenses or tags are required over the weekend, and Oregon residents and nonresidents alike can fish for free statewide.

Oregon State Parks will also offer free parking on June 6, and rainbow trout will be stocked in several lakes and ponds ahead of free fishing weekend, according to the ODFW.

ODFW’s Recreation Report, which includes a weekly trout stocking schedule, is available online and is updated weekly.

According to the ODFW, smaller lakes and ponds might already be warming up due to drought conditions across the state, so anglers may want to target warm water fish, such as bass, bluegill or crappie.

Oregon sport fishing regulations are organized by zone and the ODFW provides online tips on how and where to fish in each zone, including 15 Great Places in the Northeast Zone for Families to Fish.

Closures, bag and size limits are still in effect, and anglers are encouraged to check the Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations before hitting the water.

Free Fishing Weekend events with ODFW staff, volunteers, and partner organizations providing equipment, sharing tips, and teaching anglers how to clean their catch are also planned at select locations throughout the state, including Twin Ponds in Ukiah.

The full Free Fishing Days events schedule is available online.
